Water project in Ghana

Feasibility Study on the development project at hand.

To representatives of Global faces were sent to Ghana September 2009 to make a visibility study for the project.

The chosen project will help the people of Adrakpo village in Ghana. The village is located 150 km from Accra and has a population of 1200 people. The village has a good and energetic atmosphere and has huge developmental potential.

After accessing the day to day life in the village Global Faces met up with the leaders and representatives of the village and decided that the best way that Global Faces could help the people of this village would be by providing a local water source. In so doing the village will have easier access to water and this will not only improve the lifestyle but it will unburden the women’s daily workload of having to walk a distance of more than 5km to fetch water.

Through bringing a source of water close by the villagers can also have a chance of growing their own vegetables thereby giving them a little commercial boost and bettering their life standard.

Global Faces have at the present moment a total of 20.000,- kroners but this amount alone is not enough to build the borehole and connect the pipes that are necessary to provide for the whole village. We are currently in the process of trying to raise enough money to help these people and hopefully get enough money to complete our ambitious project.

The village has a monarchy and to get things started we also have to go through a series of rituals and this alone does not make the process faster but we are hoping to get the villagers the most needed borehole, hopefully with a water pump and reservoir tank.

We are working tirelessly and hope that we can manage to realise the villagers dream and that we can manage to develop the village and help them get a better lifestyle. In the photographs, you will see a few pictures that were photographed during the feasibility study.
